Tajikistan-China Ministers of Foreign Affairs Meeting


On May 11, 2021 in Xian, in the framework of his official visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the  State Councilor,  Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of ChinaWang Yi.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations and expressed mutual interest in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and China in various fields.

During the meeting, the sides also considered implementation of the agreements reached during the  telephone conversations between the leaders of Tajikistan and China, the signing of new bilateral documents, coordination of joint activities in various formats, including within the framework of meetings of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and China.

In this regard, the parties stressed the importance of expanding trade, economic, investment, scientific and technical ties between the two countries, expanding inter-parliamentary relation, cooperation in the field of industry and energy, culture, tourism and etc.

Other issues related to the expansion of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and China within the framework of international and regional organizations and cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic were also discussed.

The parties also discussed the fruitful cooperation within the UN, SCO, CICA and other international and regional organizations.

In the end of the meeting, the Program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China for 2021-2022 was signed.
